Why Tailorise?

Hello, my name is Rafael, I'm the founder of Tailorise and I’m happy to see you here!

In 2024, my hometown of Porto Alegre in south Brazil was hit by the worst flood in its history, a disaster so intense it felt apocalyptic. I was in London, thousands of kilometres away, watching the places I love, my childhood home, parks, schools, the airport, disappear under unbelievable 6 metres of water. Climate change wasn’t abstract anymore. It was real and personal.

My background is design and I learned by years of collaboration with global powerhouses like Puig and LVMH that design, creativity joining hands with scalable processes can be transformative. It can make ideas go global, being accessible by thousands, transforming lives and businesses. For me though, something had changed. Design needed to be a positive force supporting people to generate less environmental impact.

I found my answer looking back at my family. Fashion is part of my family DNA, I grew up with clothes, fabrics and tailors around with a small family business providing alterations and tailoring locally. I know in my bones the transformative potential of the craft and, combining it with my adult life career, the professional experience of scaling up brands, I found my own way forward: fix clothes at-scale. That's how I'll design for change.

The combination of deeply rooted personal causes with a changing landscape culminate at Tailorise and a case against waste in fashion, towards clothes to be used better and longer and a better planet. Tailorise wants people getting more use out of stuff they already own, cutting down on consumption and carbon emissions. We’ll do it by democratising tailoring, alterations and recycling of clothes for everyone-everywhere, extending its use, delivering tailored-style, comfort and value-for-money whilst respecting the natural world.
